Warranty Terms & Claims
Fabric Nano Protection
Urban Shieldz Fabric Nano Protection treatments are backed by a limited warranty for the period specified on the customer’s invoice or warranty certificate.
The applicable warranty period begins from the original date of application.
What the Warranty Covers
Subject to the terms below, the warranty covers abnormal or premature loss of the protective treatment’s intended liquid-repellent performance where the issue is reasonably attributable to the product or application.
The treatment is designed to help:
- Slow liquid absorption into treated fabric
- Give additional time to attend to everyday spills
- Reduce the likelihood of immediate staining
- Preserve the original look, feel and breathability of the fabric
Where a valid warranty issue is confirmed, Urban Shieldz may reapply the treatment to the affected area at no additional application or material cost.
What the Warranty Does Not Guarantee
Fabric Nano Protection is a stain-resistant treatment, not a stain-proof treatment.
The warranty does not guarantee:
- Complete prevention of every stain
- Permanent immunity from liquid absorption
- Complete resistance to all chemicals, oils, dyes or pigments
- That every liquid will bead visibly on every fabric
- That a spill left unattended for a prolonged period will remain removable
- Restoration of fabric that has already been permanently stained, damaged or discoloured
The warranty applies to the performance of the protective treatment and not to a guarantee that the fabric itself can never stain.
Liquid Repellency & Beading
Different fabrics react differently to protective treatments.
Some treated fabrics may show strong visible beading, while others may primarily demonstrate slower absorption rather than pronounced droplets on the surface.
A reduction in visible beading over time does not automatically constitute a warranty defect where the treatment continues to provide meaningful resistance to immediate liquid absorption.
Likewise, a liquid penetrating the fabric after prolonged contact does not, by itself, establish failure of the treatment.
Stains & Spills
Spills should be attended to within a reasonable period.
The customer should gently blot the affected area using an appropriate absorbent material and avoid aggressive rubbing unless otherwise instructed.
Warranty coverage does not apply to staining caused or materially contributed to by:
- Spills left unattended for prolonged periods
- Strong dyes or colouring agents
- Ink, marker or paint
- Highly pigmented food or beverages
- Turmeric, food colouring or similar concentrated pigments
- Oils, grease or oily substances
- Bleach or oxidising agents
- Acids, solvents or corrosive substances
- Adhesives or chemical products
- Bodily fluids or biological contamination
- Substances outside normal household or intended commercial use
The presence of a permanent stain does not automatically mean that the protective treatment has failed.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The performance and longevity of Fabric Nano Protection depend in part on how the treated fabric is maintained.
The customer should follow reasonable care instructions provided by Urban Shieldz.
Warranty coverage may be affected where the treatment is weakened, altered or removed by:
- Steam cleaning
- Shampooing
- Extraction cleaning
- Deep wet cleaning
- Aggressive detergents
- Strong stain removers
- Solvents or bleaching agents
- Fabric conditioners or chemical treatments
- Repeated excessive scrubbing
- Third-party cleaning products or treatments that interfere with the protective coating
Where professional deep cleaning is required, the customer is advised to confirm compatibility with Urban Shieldz before proceeding.
Normal Wear & Reduction in Performance
Fabric Nano Protection is exposed to friction, cleaning, use and environmental conditions over time.
A gradual reduction in repellency resulting from normal wear does not automatically constitute a warranty defect.
Warranty coverage is intended for abnormal or premature loss of treatment performance within the applicable warranty period, rather than ordinary deterioration associated with normal use.
Fabric Condition & Pre-Existing Defects
Fabric Nano Protection is applied to an existing textile surface.
Urban Shieldz is not responsible for defects, weaknesses or conditions that existed before treatment, whether visible or concealed, including:
- Existing stains or discolouration
- Fading
- Fibre weakness or deterioration
- Loose or damaged weave
- Pilling
- Tears, cuts or abrasion
- Previous cleaning damage
- Existing chemical residues
- Previous stain-protection treatments
- Manufacturing defects
- Dye instability or colour bleeding
- Uneven fabric composition or absorbency
Where reasonably identifiable, such conditions may be brought to the customer’s attention before treatment.
Fabric Suitability
Urban Shieldz may assess the fabric before application to determine whether it appears suitable for treatment.
A visual or physical assessment cannot always identify concealed chemical residues, unstable dyes, prior treatments or manufacturing characteristics that may influence performance.
Urban Shieldz may recommend a sample application or advise against treatment where the fabric presents an elevated compatibility risk.
Sample or Test Application
Where fabric suitability is uncertain, Urban Shieldz may recommend or conduct a sample application on a small or less visible area.
A sample may be used to assess:
- Immediate appearance
- Colour response
- Fabric feel
- Absorption behaviour
- Compatibility with the treatment
Successful performance of a sample does not guarantee identical performance across every section of the furniture, particularly where different batches, fibres, backing materials or previous treatments are present.
Customer Approval on Disclosed Fabric Risks
If Urban Shieldz identifies and communicates a specific fabric-related risk before treatment, and the customer chooses to proceed, any issue directly arising from that disclosed condition will not be covered under warranty.
This does not affect coverage for unrelated treatment or application defects attributable to Urban Shieldz.
Physical Damage
The Fabric Nano Protection warranty does not cover physical damage to the fabric, including:
- Cuts or tears
- Burns or heat damage
- Scratches or abrasion
- Pet damage
- Punctures
- Fraying
- Damage caused by sharp objects
- Intentional or accidental physical damage
- Damage caused while moving, dismantling or transporting furniture
The nano treatment is designed to assist with liquid and stain resistance and does not provide structural or physical protection to the fabric.
Third-Party Treatments & Alterations
Warranty coverage for an affected area may be declined where the treated fabric has subsequently been:
- Reupholstered
- Repaired
- Replaced
- Dyed or recoloured
- Chemically treated
- Professionally cleaned using incompatible methods
- Treated with another stain protector, nano coating or chemical product
Any replacement or newly upholstered fabric is considered untreated unless separately treated by Urban Shieldz.
Change of Ownership
The warranty is issued to the original customer and is non-transferable.
If ownership of the treated furniture or item is transferred, sold, gifted or otherwise handed over to another person or entity, the warranty will automatically cease to remain valid.
Change of Location
Relocating or transporting treated furniture to another property does not automatically void the warranty, provided ownership remains with the original customer.
Continued coverage is subject to:
- Appropriate handling and transportation
- No incompatible cleaning or chemical treatment during relocation
- No physical damage occurring during transit or reinstallation
- Suitable environmental and usage conditions at the new location
Damage or loss of treatment performance arising from transportation, storage, cleaning or handling during relocation is not covered.
Residential & Commercial Applications
Unless specifically stated otherwise in the quotation, the same warranty principles apply to residential and commercial applications.
Warranty coverage remains subject to intended use, cleaning practices, environmental conditions and the exclusions stated in these terms.
Reporting a Warranty Issue
Any suspected warranty issue should be reported to Urban Shieldz within 72 hours of the customer becoming aware of the issue.
The customer may be requested to provide:
- Photographs or videos
- Invoice or warranty details
- Information about the spill or issue
- Cleaning products or methods used
- Date the issue was first noticed
- Other information reasonably required to assess the claim
Failure to report an issue within this period may affect warranty coverage where the delay contributes to further damage, makes the original cause difficult to determine or prevents a reasonable assessment.
Third-Party Intervention Before Inspection
If a warranty issue is suspected, the customer must allow Urban Shieldz a reasonable opportunity to inspect or assess the affected area before arranging incompatible deep cleaning, chemical treatment, reapplication or other third-party intervention.
Warranty coverage may be declined where such intervention:
- Alters the original condition of the fabric
- Makes the cause of the issue difficult to determine
- Removes or materially affects the protective treatment
- Causes or contributes to further staining or damage
- Prevents Urban Shieldz from reasonably assessing the treatment’s performance
Emergency action required to prevent further property damage will be considered separately based on the circumstances.
Warranty Assessment
Urban Shieldz may inspect or test the affected fabric before confirming whether an issue qualifies for warranty coverage.
Assessment may consider factors including:
- Fabric type and construction
- Original condition
- Nature of the spill or contaminant
- Time before the spill was attended to
- Cleaning methods used
- Subsequent chemical treatments
- Usage and wear
- Remaining liquid-repellent performance
The presence of a stain alone will not be treated as conclusive evidence of treatment failure.
Warranty Remedy
Where Urban Shieldz confirms a valid warranty issue, the primary remedy will be reapplication of the protective treatment to the affected area.
Where appropriate, Urban Shieldz may:
- Reapply the treatment to the affected section
- Retreat a larger connected section where necessary for practical application
- Recommend additional cleaning or preparation before reapplication
A warranty claim relating to one section of furniture does not automatically qualify the entire item or complete installation for retreatment.
Warranty After Reapplication
Warranty reapplication does not restart or extend the original warranty period.
The retreated and existing areas will remain covered only for the balance of the warranty period calculated from the original application date.
Refunds
The Urban Shieldz Fabric Nano Protection warranty is primarily a reapplication warranty.
Where a covered issue can reasonably be rectified through retreatment of the affected area, a monetary refund will not ordinarily form part of the warranty remedy.
Nothing in these terms is intended to restrict any remedy or right that cannot legally be excluded under applicable law.
Furniture & Fabric Replacement
The warranty does not constitute a guarantee for the furniture, upholstery or textile itself.
Urban Shieldz is not responsible for replacement of furniture, upholstery, fabric or other underlying materials solely because a stain, spill or treatment-performance issue has occurred.
Where a customer alleges that the fabric has been directly damaged as a result of an Urban Shieldz application error, Urban Shieldz must first be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect and determine the cause.
Any responsibility will be assessed based on the circumstances, original fabric condition and cause of the damage.
Consequential & Indirect Loss
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the warranty does not cover indirect or consequential costs arising from a warranty issue, including:
- Loss of use of furniture or premises
- Furniture rental or temporary replacement costs
- Business interruption or loss of income
- Loss of opportunity
- Third-party cleaning or professional fees not authorised by Urban Shieldz
- Costs incurred through unauthorised treatment, cleaning or repair
Important Limitation
Fabric Nano Protection is designed to provide an additional level of resistance against everyday liquid spills and staining.
It does not make upholstery waterproof, stain-proof, maintenance-free or indestructible.
The treatment is intended to slow liquid absorption and provide additional time for cleaning, but its performance will vary depending on the fabric, contaminant, quantity of liquid, duration of exposure, maintenance and conditions of use.
References to hydrophobicity, liquid repellency, stain resistance or fabric protection describe the intended performance of the treatment under normal conditions and should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every substance will permanently remain on the surface or that every stain can be prevented.
Warranty coverage relates specifically to the Fabric Nano Protection treatment and its application and does not constitute insurance or an unlimited warranty for the furniture, upholstery or underlying fabric.
Nothing contained in these terms excludes or limits any right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
